Man + animal: Eat, pray, love

A) Woman, 66, nabs chicken store robber
B) Town unveils life-size statue of hero terrier
C) Couple wear sweaters from dead dogs' fur

B) is fake.

An elderly woman wrestled a would-be KFC robber to the ground in Washington (A), and a British couple conjured up a really creepy way of remembering their deceased pets (C).

These are funny, but I'm still reeling from the thought of turning a pencil factory into a pen factory. Did they have to hire new management? Buy new machines? Is this a conservatively grand statement about cultural shifts? Are the pencil and pen ideologically equals? Can the spiffy new pens really replace the old die-hard utilitarian pencils? This must be a mistake, pens can't really take the place of pencils. They are simply different tools. But maybe in terms of their making it is reasonable to turn a pencil factory into a pen factory. Does the demographic of factory workers change when the product changes?
